4 Reasons You Don’t Want a Fixed Cost Private Investigator

If you’re thinking of hiring a private investigator, you’ve probably realised that there aren’t many around giving prices. This may be frustrating, but it’s actually in your best interest. There are a number of reasons that a private investigator cost should not be a fixed number on a website, and they all end up saving you, either in money or in other ways.

Your private investigator can do their best work

If your private eye quotes you a set amount for an investigation, you might think this gives you a good indication of what the job will cost. In actual fact, the investigator has compromised your investigation for the sake of a round number. With a price on the job, the investigator has to make decisions based on how much cost is involved. For example, if it looks like the surveillance might go over, they face the dilemma of having to either work overtime and loose money, or stop the job even though they know they’re about to catch the cheating partner (for example). With a fixed cost, the private detective’s hands are tied, and it’s hard to get the best results.

You don’t pay a cent more than you need to

While you’ll rarely give your private investigator an open chequebook, having a flexible price range means your final invoice will be the absolute lowest cost for the job you need. A fixed cost will always be the highest end of the range, as the investigator needs to include contingencies for variations to the job. If those variations don’t occur, then you’ve paid that amount for nothing.

It’s the only way to get you the results you need

Whether you’re trying to catch a cheating partner, expose a fraudulent employee, find a missing relative or find out if and what drugs your child is doing, either way, you don’t just want tidbits of information. You want the truth. By allowing your investigator to run their full investigation, follow leads and do the appropriate research, you give yourself the best chance of achieving the outcome you need. This is one case where close enough is not good enough.

You dictate the cost of the private investigator

In the end, you give your private eye a price range that you can afford, and they tell you how much you are likely to get for that amount. If you say that you definitely can’t afford more than a certain amount, let your investigator know and they will manage the investigation accordingly. That way you always know that your investigation will fit within your price range.
