Liar Liar! 4 Secrets Of Manipulation Masters

Hey there, Steve here and welcome to this week’s private eye post. When you think about it, the people who cheat on their wives and husbands without getting caught, have to be extremely accomplished liars.

All of us lie.

It’s human nature, and as I’ve explained before, the average person is exposed to a couple of hundred lies every day. Some people are so naturally attuned to body language, micro-expressions, verbal clues and body language, that they have a ridiculously high chance (in the 90%+ range) of spotting a lie. These people are very few and far between. Most of us stand a 50% chance of lie spotting without some training.

There are also people who are much better at lying than others. And again this is something that can be relatively innate or learned with practice and training.

And that’s what we’ll be exploring in today’s post. The secret attributes of masters of lying.

#1 Physical Attractiveness

It’s a proven fact that we judge good-looking people as being more honest than unattractive people. I know it’s not fair, and what makes this worse in the case of cheating, is you obviously think your partner is attractive, or you wouldn’t be with them. So, you naturally think your partner is more honest than other people. The truth is they probably aren’t.

#2 Experience

The more you lie, the better you get at it. When most people lie, they feel a sense of guilt or fear. However, when they practise deceit often enough, they can more efficiently manage these emotions, and so become highly effective at lying. If your partner is a serial cheat or has had an affair for a sustained period, they will have been lying to you a lot. It’s one of the reasons it can be so hard to come to terms with your partner having a long time affair. You realise all of the lies you’ve been told, and the manner in which they were conveyed.

#3 Truth Bending

Liars who fabricate a complete story have a hard time remembering details at a later time. It’s much easier mentally, to take the truth and add the necessary twists and turns. It’s usually far more convincing and easily recalled when needed.

#4 Original and Rapid Thinking

Good liars are usually of high intelligence and can provide clear and convincing responses rapidly. Quick-witted they can think fast on their feet without the usual ‘ums’ and ‘ahs’.

Summary

Good looking people with brains, who can think on their feet and have a history of lying are going to be the most accomplished liars and emotional manipulators.
