Hey there, Steve here and welcome to this week’s private eye post where we’ll look at the commonly used excuses to get out of the house to cheat. Without a doubt, the overarching theme that runs through every cheating investigation is deception. This deception manifests in all sorts of ways—from covering up physical signs of cheating to having to tell outright lies to your partner’s face.
In fact, when we uncover a cheat, our clients are often disgusted at the amount of deceit that’s gone on in their relationship, and more than anything else, are most upset about the betrayal of trust.
I’ve mentioned before that one of the most significant problems all cheats face is to account for their time. And if they want to go and engage in extramarital activities they have to make excuses to go and meet up with their lover.
Let’s take a look at the common alibis we hear people using to get out of the house.

#1 Errand Running
You’d be shocked at how often this excuse is put to use—especially by men. Such a simple thing as going and buying some milk [or whatever] from the store seems so innocuous. You might be thinking, “How is there enough time?”, but I can assure you this is the #1 alibi on our list, and the meetups may be brief but maybe that adds to the excitement?
#2 Work Again
Coming in a close second is the work excuse. Whether it’s working early or working late, this is such a timeless and classic excuse. When we carry out a cheating spouse investigation, we regularly catch the person cheating just before or just after work.
#3 Workout Time
The gym is the perfect excuse. A cheat can get a good hour with their fling without you suspecting a thing. Plus, a quick shower and change at the gym afterwards mean it’s highly unlikely they’ll be discovered.
#4 Catching Up
From our experience, this is a highly popular excuse among women who cheat. Many husbands prefer to do anything else than catch up with their wife’s friends. So, a cheating wife can easily use a friend as an excuse for time away to play. In fact, women are more likely to tell the friend they’re using as a cover so they have a rock-solid alibi.
There are lots of alibis cheats use to hide their affairs. These 4 excuses to get out of the house to cheat are by far the most common ones we hear during our cheating spouse investigations. If you think your partner is cheating on you, call us to get the help you need.
