5 Ways To Spot If Your Partner Is Guilty Of Facebook Cheating

Hey there, Steve here and welcome to this week’s private eye post – how to spot if your partner is displaying the signs of Facebook cheating.

It might surprise you to hear that in one divorce lawyer’s opinion, Facebook is the single greatest breeding ground ever for infidelity.

The temptation of course, is to have a brief escape from your day-to-day life, and check out people you slept with a long time ago, and see what they’re up to. His advice is a categorical, “don’t do it.”

But many people do. And the initial look, can lead to chat, and sometimes into a full-blown affair, that’s been made far easier to perpetuate through the social network.

So, in this week’s post, take a look over these 5 ways to spot if your partner is guilty of Facebook cheating…

#1 Lost In Facebook

Is she always on Facebook? Look, I get that we all spend a ridiculous amount of time online these days, and the average Facebook user is on for at least 20 minutes each day. But if she is constantly on the network, what is she really doing? Well, at the very least she’s having more of a relationship with her device than she is with you. This type of disengagement can be a source of constant friction, and priorities need to be re-established if the relationship is going to survive in the long term.

#2 Shoot The Messenger

Messenger apps are highly prevalent, and because it’s text chat, people send them whenever they’re online. It’s no longer unusual to get replies to chats at strange hours of the day/night. But however you look at it, online chatting with someone else at the times of day when you should be paying attention to each other is simply wrong. It could be drastically sabotaging your relationship.

#3 The Facebook Shutdown

It’s always suggestive when someone suddenly stops what they’re doing when they see you. Like walking into a room of friends who cease to speak when you arrive, if your partner shuts down Facebook the moment you’re within eyesight, there’s something afoot.

#4 It’s MINE!

Has she become overly protective of her device. You can’t go near it, and heaven forbid you ask to use it for something. Sure, you can’t expect to see everything she does online, but when it goes to this extreme, it means there’s something she really wants to keep from you. Your guess is as good as mine as to what that might be!

#5 Outsider Jokes

You have no idea who they are, but a strange man is commenting on her posts, and adding messages to her wall. OK, so we don’t even know all of our own Facebook friends that well, never mind our partners, so nothing to worry about, right? But if she hasn’t told you who that guy is, and he seems to be sharing insider jokes with her, then you’re the outsider and the joke is on you. Beware, it’s time to get your relationship back on track.

Summary

Facebook is a breeding ground for unhappiness portrayed as happiness. Many full-blown affairs start from a simple daydream of times gone by, and checking out what previous romantic involvements are up to now. Watch out for the signs of Facebook cheating, and put time and effort into your relationship offline to keep things on track.
