Guilty As Charged? 4 Sure-Fire Signs Of Guilt

Hey there, Steve here and welcome to this week’s private eye post. As investigators, we get called on a lot during the holiday season. It’s a time of year when people’s guilt comes to the surface, as they simply can’t seem to enjoy the festivities.

It’s no fun feeling guilty. It can cause a heap of stress and make you feel belaboured in everything you do. People who feel guilty can display a myriad of different signs, but there are some which are all too common.

Let’s take a look at those signs

#1 Sleeplessness

Everyone has felt guilty at some point. But if it’s a serious guilt, then it’s something that you simply can’t get off your mind. And when something is on your mind, you might get distracted for short periods of time, but you’ll go back to thinking about whatever it is. It’s kind of like a continual snooze alarm going off in your head every 10 minutes. And there’s no way you’re going to get much sleep with that going on.

#2 Suddenly Being Too Nice

Has your partner had a spurt of being overly nice? It’s the time-tested cliche. Buying you flowers for no reason, when he never has before. It’s a sure sign of guilt but you’re left guessing what they’re feeling guilty about.

#3 Emotional More Than Usual

Guilt is an emotion, so if someone is feeling particularly guilty then they’re already feeling ‘emotional’. This leads to heightened emotions all-around, so it’s not surprising they’ll be easy to cry, get angry, feel more anxiety and more nervous too.

#4 Oh So Heavy

With all these emotions boiling beneath the surface it’s a highly taxing time on the energy resources. For this reason, people who feel guilty struggle to do anything at all. Everything seems like it requires more effort than it actually does. Interesting, it’s been proven that people who feel guilty, overestimate their weight because of how they feel.

Summary

It’s not difficult then to see the signs of guilt in someone. As we approach the New Year, perhaps it’s time for everyone to shed their guilty feelings by getting whatever it is off their chest, so they can make a fresh start in 2018.
