Is My Husband Thinking Of Cheating?

Hey there, Steve here and welcome to this week’s private eye post where I’ll help you answer the question, “Is my husband thinking of cheating?”

Generally, people who are happy in their marriage aren’t giving serious thought to betraying their marriage vows. Sure, sometimes husbands can be led astray in a moment of an opportunistic lapse, but this isn’t common.

There are times when a wife calls us to investigate her husband because she believes he’s cheating, but actually, he’s not.

And what’s usually happening is the wife’s gut feeling has kicked in because she senses something is wrong. She’s right, of course, but not because he is cheating. Rather, the feelings of betrayal are being triggered by the deterioration of the relationship, and her husband is thinking about having an affair.

It goes without saying that trust in a marriage is crucial. By reconnecting with your husband before he goes too far you may just be able to prevent the worst from happening.

#1 Emotional Withdrawal

It’s easy to spot a problem if you’re always arguing and there are never any loving moments. But far more common and harder to notice is the gradual waning of your emotional connection.

This is something that fades slowly over time, a little piece each day. Until suddenly you realise that you stopped sharing emotions with each other.

The silence between you and your husband means you both never hear what’s on each other’s minds.

At this point, he may feel it’s acceptable to seek emotional comfort elsewhere.

#2 Loss of Physical Intimacy

Do you ever touch each other? I’m not just talking about sex here. What about hand-holding, hugging, and other intimate relationship stuff.

When that’s all gone, there’s no physical connection between you.

Again, he may feel like it’s OK for him to go and seek a replacement.

#3 Checking Out Other Women

Does your hubby physically scan his environment and actively ‘check out’ other women?

Imagine what he’s like when you’re not there!

The good news is that he wouldn’t be as blatant about this if he was already cheating. He’d want to ensure you had no reason for suspicion.

So, this is a huge sign he’s thinking of cheating but not yet doing so.

#4 Zero Date Nights

Sometimes life is so busy with the daily humdrum, that it’s easy to neglect what’s important for your marriage.

People who are in love grab moments together, even if they’re less frequent than they used to be.

If there’s never a willingness to go on a date night, then you should be concerned.

Again, if he was cheating, he’d be trying to ensure he didn’t arouse your suspicions, so this is a sign he’s thinking of doing something.

#5 Lack of Attention

Sure, everyone is busy but does he still care about you?

The one way you can tell is if he “checks in” with you throughout the day.

People in love care about what their partners are feeling as they go through their day-to-day lives. It’s the behaviour equivalent of physical intimacy.
